Amaria Stark“Silent Sentinel, the story of a redgum”, written and illustrated by Amaria Stark and published through Green Hill Publishing, is a beautifully illustrated picture book which tells the story of change to the grassland from before European settlement to the spread of urban development- as “witnessed” by a three-hundred-year-old redgum.
At least one other book illustrated by Amaria will also be on the table. “Sunlight Dragon”, written by Anika Molesworth, tells the story of an endangered Barrier Range Dragon as she sets out from her rocky shelter in outback New South Wales to seek for food, avoiding perils and meeting a mate along the way. Both books aim to help children connect to nature and inspire them to care for our unique ecology.
